Review: Afterlife - X-it Games, Shipley

Room Story - from X-it Games As a mortal, to enter your afterlife, you must first die. How you die is your choice but all must enter through the void of transcendence. Only the brave will follow the light, crawl out of the grave and go to hell and back. Logical thinking and teamwork is what you need to ensure that when your hour is up your name is found in the Book of life. Will you escape and be granted your life back, or will you be left to wander the afterlife for eternity? WILL YOU BEAT DEATH HIMSELF? YOU HAVE 60 MINUTES. Key Stats Room Name Afterlife Venue X-it Location Shipley, UK Date 10/03/2019 Escape Time 54:09 Team Size 3 My Recommended Team Size 3 - 4 Review The theme of Afterlife is what initially drew me to book this game – you need to complete a series of puzzles set out by Death himself in order to save your life. At the time of writing, Afterlife is the only game at X-it. X-it is a very new feeling venue with a nice modern waiting area with lo...

Review: Crux Codicillus - The Escaporium, Halifax

Room Story - from The Escaporium The King of the Illuminati has been murdered! Solve the case or it is curtains for us all! Key Stats Room Name Crux Codicillus Venue The Escaporium Location Halifax, UK Date 17/02/2019 Escape Time 54:07 Team Size 3 My Recommended Team Size 3 - 5 Review We’ve played both of The Escaporium’s other games and really loved them. We’ve wanted to go and play Crux Codicillus for quite some time and one quiet Sunday afternoon we decided to make an impromptu last minute booking. Given our love for their other games, we went with very high expectations… As always, the game started with an outline of the story. At a meeting of the Illuminati, the leader Plato has been murdered. We (also members of the Illuminati) were given the task to investigate his murder and find the murder weapon, the murderer and country they’re from. Lots to do for a Sunday afternoon! This game has one of the more unusual starts. Enrobed in our Illuminati garb, we ...

Review: The Haligonian - The Escaporium, Halifax

Room Story - from The Escaporium Enter the newly discovered private Halifax museum of Mr. P. Saul and find out what he has been the guardian of all this time! Key Stats Room Name The Haligonian Venue The Escaporium Location Halifax, UK Date 22/07/2018 Escape Time 53:17 Team Size 3 My Recommended Team Size 3 - 6 Review We played Operation Moonshine at The Escaporium a short time ago. We really enjoyed that game so knew we had to go back and play their other game soon. The Haligonian is located in a different building just across the road from Operation Moonshine in the historic Piece Hall. On the day we visited, there was a food festival (Chow Down) taking place in the centre of The Piece Hall with lots of different food and drink on offer. This is taking place on different weekends throughout the summer so it’s a great day out for food and escape room fans. The Haligonian (which means somebody who comes from Halifax) is a game ...

Room Story - from The Escaporium It’s the tail end of the Prohibition era in Chicago and Al Capone has a stranglehold on all the Bootleg liquor in the city. As the newest members of Bugsy’s gang, Da’ Boss needs you to prove yourself and steal something right from under Scarface’s nose! Don’t let him down, or you’ll be sleeping with the fishes! Key Stats Room Name Operation Moonshine Venue The Escaporium Location Halifax, UK Date 27/05/2018 Escape Time 55:32 Team Size 3 My Recommended Team Size 3 - 5 Review This was our first visit to The Escaporium. At the time of writing, they have two rooms split across two sites. One room, The Haligonian is based in the historic Piece Hall and the game we played is situated in a former mill building. They’ve done a great job renovating and have a really modern and welcoming reception area. We were speaking to one of the owners whilst waiting for our room and found out that they have lots o...
